On our way home from Moscow, we stopped over in London for five nights. This gave us the opportunity to visit four great art museums: The National Gallery, Tate Modern, Tate Britain and the Courtauld Gallery. The National Gallery offers a nearly perfect environment for appreciating their enormous collection of paintings: good lighting, paintings at eye level, minimal glazing and a knowledgeable and courteous staff.   A special show on Futurism at the Tate Modern was excellent and then we went back a second day to study the rest of their extensive collection. Unlike the National Gallery, Tate Modern and Tate Britain, the Courtauld Gallery does allow photography in their galleries.
