The Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens, as it is officially known, was formerly the vast estate of railroad and real estate tycoon Henry E. Huntington and his wife Arabella. In 1928 the Huntington estate, located in San Marino, was transformed into a private, non-profit research and education institution. We went there to study their quality art collection as well as to see a special exhibition of John Constable’s landscape paintings. After an alfresco lunch in their charming café, we enjoyed exploring the Desert Garden section of their Botanical Gardens. It was a full day.
